EMULATE SECURE™ – The First Tacky Dye-Sub Paper for Desktops

If you have experience with sublimation printing, then you probably are familiar with the struggles of “ghosting”. Ghosting is a common sublimation concern (especially with desktop printing) – it occurs when there’s a shift in the transfer paper while the panel is still hot, leaving a shadow or secondary image on the final product. The experts at Neenah recognized the impact this can have on production time for those using desktop setups. To combat the frequency of ghosting and registration issues among desktop decorators, Neenah developed EMULATE SECURE™.

EMULATE SECURE™ is the first dye sub paper of its kind to deliver the control given by a tack paper to decorators that primarily use desktop printers. Available exclusively from Coastal Business Supplies in sheets, these sublimation papers are USA-made and possess a tacky side guaranteed to keep them in place during the transfer process. The backside of the paper has a printed grid to assist with improving transfer registration, making it the first dye-sub paper on the market completely designed for efficient small-format sublimation.

Other features of the EMULATE SECURE™ sheets include:

Both the EMULATE™ and EMULATE SECURE™ sublimation paper sheets work great with all desktop printers – try them with the Sawgrass Virtuoso SG400 or SG800 today!

ST. LOUIS, MO – Coastal Business Supplies targets the crafting and hobbyist market by offering a selection of Siser heat transfer vinyl products in 12” sheets. “Our biggest priority at Coastal is offering the products our customers need to succeed and ensuring they get them as quickly as possible,” says Coastal Marketing and Communications Manager Candis Spraul. “We recognized that many of our lifelong vinyl customers utilize desktop production setups for their small businesses and crafting endeavors, so we made it a goal to provide them with supplies that are perfect for their needs.”

Previously, Coastal’s customers could only purchase heat transfer vinyl by the roll. For those individuals seeking the HTV supplies needed for small runs or craft projects with multiple colors, purchasing specific vinyl colors in bulk can sometimes be inconvenient and unnecessary.

“We realize that the demand for custom one-offs is on the rise, and not every customer is regularly producing large-quantity runs,” says Spraul. “Anyone can get their hands on a vinyl cutter these days and we want to make sure we offer the supplies people need to let their creativity reign – whether that means adding small accents to a larger design, or fulfilling a small order of shirts. Coastal is there to support and supply everyone with the tools for success, from the crafting weekend warriors, to the Etsy start-ups, to your favorite t-shirt store.”

HEAT PRESSING TIPS & TRICKS

Need extra heat transfer vinyl advice? Here are some extra tips to keep in mind when pressing your products:

•   Use a pressing pillow. Some items (such as infant bodysuits, shirts with pockets, garments with thick seams – even totes!) can be more difficult to press, as pressing flaws are more prone to occur on items with bulky seams or uneven surfaces. To ensure your vinyl is adhering evenly, insert a pressing pillow inside of the item before clamping your heat press. This method will help to ensure no lifting occurs and the heat transfer vinyl lays flat on the item.

•   Create a pressing cheat sheet detailing temps, times and pressure based on product type. Keep your cheat sheet near your heat press and you’ll never forget the proper times and temperatures required for pressing different types of vinyl + items. Coastal tests every product on our website – if you are looking for specific heat pressing instructions based on your equipment model or product type, you can find pressing details listed on the “More Information” tab below every product description.

•   Stay stocked with the right tools and supplies. Keep plenty of weeding tools handy near your work area (we all know how easily they can go missing!). No weeding tool on hand? Use an Exact-o knife instead – it will get the job done in the same time (but watch your fingers!).

•   Create saved presets in your cutter. This will save time when cutting and you’ll avoid having to do test cuts on different materials more than once.
