Sales & Marketing Tips from Sawgrass Ink

A key area to consider when looking for potential customers is your own background. Are you currently employed? If so, chances are you are surrounded by potential leads. Use these contacts to carve out business relationships. It’s much easier to make sales in an environment that is comfortable and familiar, than having to go out and knock on doors. And don’t just look around, write it all down.

One exercise that you can do to help you generate a potential list of customers is to take a sheet of paper and divide it into to three columns. In the left hand column list the name of every person that you know. Friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, church members, club members, etc. You’ll probably be surprised at how many people you really do know. Marketing the New Business

Here are several things to consider as you begin to process of marketing your new business:

  • What customers want: Consider what you think your customers will want to purchase and get some great designs going. Are you going to focus on creating completely customized shirts with pictures of grandchildren, pets, etc.? Or, do you want to concentrate on shirts with funny sayings or images? Will you be selling your products at a mall, car shows, through a website or at a flea market? You’ll want to consider where you plan to sell your shirts in order to determine the best type of designs to focus on.
  • Be your own advertisement: Make a vinyl decal with your business name and contact info for the back windshield of your car. Wear a tshirt with your information on it – it’s like being your own walking billboard! Continue reading “Marketing the New Business”
