Working with High Resolution Photographs

While I was attending photography classes in college one of the many important aspects of our assignments was resolution. In my assignments this was achieved with my DLSR camera and in my personal life I used my little point and shoot camera. Even now I can make high resolution images with my iPhone!

Resolution describes how much detail the image holds. The quality is usually defined as high resolution or low resolution. High resolution images have much more information to work with allowing for more possibilities.

With a background in photography, I was excited with all of the possibilities that Coastal offered that I never knew about. This was everything from putting my photos onto my iPhone case to hanging some of my photos in the office with using sublimation. It also included using my photos with heat transfer paper like the Red Grid Inkjet heat transfer paper and one our mouse pads!

The high resolution photos I have allowed me to not only have crisp images but allowed for resizing to fit various substrates. It also allows for better color.

Using a high resolution image is not just limited to sublimation and heat transfer paper. It is also key when using a vinyl cutter and heat transfer vinyl. If you were to pull a low resolution image and blow it up you may not get a clean cut.

Your cutter is going to try and make all of those little cuts. This will not only make it difficult for your cutter to make a clean cut, it will also make it more difficult to weed.

Having a high quality image to work with allows for endless possibilities! With a high resolution photo you can do anything from a coaster to a large format panel. And now cameras are becoming smaller and more consumer friendly but still allowing for the high resolution photos.
