How to Print Color Swatches in CorelDraw

Printed color swatches can save you a lot of trouble in graphic design. Since the same colors look different on screen than they do when printed, it’s easy to make the wrong color choices when you rely only on what you see on the monitor.

With printed color swatches, you can pick colors based on what they look like on print. CorelDRAW lets you print entire color palettes in just a few easy steps. You do not even have to pick each color and apply it to an object, the program does it all for you.

Color palettes help you get more accurate color!

Things You’ll Need:

  • CorelDRAW
  • Color printer

Instructions:

  1. Click on “Tools” > “Visual Basic” > “Play.” This brings up the “CorelDRAW X3 Visual Basic for Applicatons Macros” dialog box.
  2. Select “GlobalMacros” from the drop-down menu.
  3. Choose “CorelMacros: CreateColorSwatch” from the macros list.
  4. Click on the “Run” button.
  5. Select the color palette you want to print in the “Palette” area. If it is not listed there, click “Open” to launch an open file dialog box. Pick the palette you want and click “Open” to go back to the macro box.
  6. Enter the date and printer if you wish. Check the “Outline” box if you want the color swatches to have borders. You can also adjust the spacing.
  7. Click “OK.” The macro will create a set of color swatches ready for printing.

After printing, you can use this printed palette as a resource for printing photos, or press it onto a blank object in order to see what the final color will look like for heat transfer or sublimation. This is an easy and fantastic way to achieve more accurate colors for all of your printing needs.

  1. Thank you SO much! You saved me!!!! Funny to say this is the ONLY place I easily found the instructions to do this! I have Corel X5 and found this process to translate over beautifully! Now I can print my color swatches to match my Epson printers (I have 4) and use Navigator to print all my fonts! On my way to being organized and efficient! 🙂 Corel is AWESOME!
