5 Last-Minute Halloween Costumes: Easy DIY Ideas for Busy People

Halloween is less than two weeks away – do you have your costume ready?

Let’s be real: daily life is demanding. When we’re busy with classes or work or running a household, time has a tendency to get away from us. Because of this, sometimes the fun parts of life get put on the back-burner and we end up fumbling around Goodwill two days before Halloween, aggravated because what was supposed to be fun has now become just another stressor.

But never fear – we understand the pain of balancing a million things, so we’ve whipped up some incredibly easy and wickedly fun last-minute DIY Halloween costumes that you can make over lunch using heat transfer vinyl! Almost all of our recommendations require just a T-shirt and a little bit of T-shirt vinyl. Check out our photo examples and discover what you need to create these five simple (yet clever) costumes in our list below.

Start with a yellow T-shirt and some black vinyl. There’s a dozen or so Emojis to pick from – choose an expression that portrays your child’s personality. Bring the outfit to life by topping it off with a fun tutu and adding eye-catching accessories.

You can work a lot of magic with a black T-shirt, a pair of leggings and a couple sheets of white vinyl! Put your graphic design skills to the test and create your own set of bones to press.

Before sending your skeleton design to your cutter, try on your T-shirt and determine ideal HTV placement. Take measurements and apply them to your design file. This will ensure that your rib cage/pelvis/bones don’t end up looking too big or too small.

HEAT PRESSING TIPS & TRICKS

Need extra heat transfer vinyl advice? Here are some extra tips to keep in mind when pressing your products:

•   Use a pressing pillow. Some items (such as infant bodysuits, shirts with pockets, garments with thick seams – even totes!) can be more difficult to press, as pressing flaws are more prone to occur on items with bulky seams or uneven surfaces. To ensure your vinyl is adhering evenly, insert a pressing pillow inside of the item before clamping your heat press. This method will help to ensure no lifting occurs and the heat transfer vinyl lays flat on the item.

•   Create a pressing cheat sheet detailing temps, times and pressure based on product type. Keep your cheat sheet near your heat press and you’ll never forget the proper times and temperatures required for pressing different types of vinyl + items. Coastal tests every product on our website – if you are looking for specific heat pressing instructions based on your equipment model or product type, you can find pressing details listed on the “More Information” tab below every product description.

•   Stay stocked with the right tools and supplies. Keep plenty of weeding tools handy near your work area (we all know how easily they can go missing!). No weeding tool on hand? Use an Exact-o knife instead – it will get the job done in the same time (but watch your fingers!).

•   Create saved presets in your cutter. This will save time when cutting and you’ll avoid having to do test cuts on different materials more than once.

Send Your Customers Back to School in Style with Personalized Supplies!

For many parents, the end of summer signifies the beginning of hectic schedules, high-spending and hasty decisions: enter back-to-school season.

Emotions run high as families scramble to drag their kids away from the pool and into department stores – which can feel discouraging in itself. Toss in the unreasonable prices of plastic character backpacks and a kid’s desire to own every impractical celebrity-endorsed notebook available. The parental pressure to keep the kids happy and the teachers happier mounts, and suddenly the school shopping trip has turned into one giant, expensive guilt trip.

And unfortunately, all of those overwhelming emotions don’t disappear at checkout – and they are not unique to just parents, but teachers, too. The thing about kids is… as cute as they are, as responsible as they may seem…there’s an exceptionally good chance that $50 Spiderman backpack will need to be replaced before the third week of school even starts. Markers and pens will be lost after the first art project of the year. Water bottles and keys will be misplaced. The frustration and spending seems to never end.

But – what if you could help make that first day of school extra special for the kids while also making parents feel a little more secure about how much money they are forking over for supplies (which may or may not be lost on day one)? Personalized school supplies are easy to produce with a little organization and a lot of creativity and fun!

Check out these back-to-school ideas to offer your customers and help their families start the year off right!
